IMPACT - corporate social responsibility by Mediahuis

Mediahuis takes its responsibility towards a better world. Within the business world, Mediahuis is a company with high impact and wide reach. Mediahuis recognizes this unique position and responsibility it has in promoting positive change in society. We therefore see it as our duty to develop initiatives that make society more transparent, inclusive, diverse, and sustainable. We do so within three focus areas: journalism that matters, unlocking talent and the green transition.

We guarantee independent journalism

Distinguishing real from fake is becoming increasingly difficult. Especially in news and journalism. With polarizing movements in society, Mediahuis continues to believe unconditionally in independent, pluralistic journalism. We see it as our mission to provide independent news to the millions of people we reach every day. This mission colors our daily work, but also manifests itself in initiatives such as the Mediahuis Festival of Journalism, the Journalism Annual Report and participation in the Pluralis investment fund.

We offer an inclusive and diverse workplace

Mediahuis strives to be an organization where everyone feels welcome. A safe place for everyone, regardless of gender, culture, age, orientation, origin, or religion. As a media company, we are at the heart of society. Our mission is to inform readers accurately and reliably, interpret the news and connect people. This is only possible if we strive to build a team that reflects the diversity of our readers. Equal opportunities for all do not come naturally, unfortunately. That is why we continue to actively work towards a workplace where everyone can be the best version of themselves.

We are reducing our carbon footprint

The main objective from the Paris climate agreement is well known: to drastically limit global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius. Mediahuis wants to be a pioneer in this field and reduce its carbon footprint by more than 50% by 2030 at the latest. In addition, we want to be a completely climate-neutral company by 2050 and bring its CO2 emissions to zero net. We are actively making our printing processes more sustainable, increasingly opting for digital. When we do print, we do so with carefully selected sustainable paper. Our offices are continually improving their sustainability practices. Additionally, we are converting our vehicle fleet to electric and actively encourage the use of public transportation.
